# Managing your Media Library

## Overview

As you build and refine your Breakroom event space, it's likely that you'll upload [images](https://docs.breakroom.tech/creating-custom-experiences/exploring-the-breakroom-toolkit/breakroom-image-viewer) and [videos](https://docs.breakroom.tech/running-your-event/moderator-tools/presentation-controls) using various in-world tools. The Media Library tab on the [Dashboard](https://docs.breakroom.tech/building-new-worlds/breakroom-dashboard-tour) allows [World Owners](https://docs.breakroom.tech/opening-the-doors/creating-and-managing-user-accounts/world-level-user-permissions#owner) and [World Administrators](https://docs.breakroom.tech/opening-the-doors/creating-and-managing-user-accounts/world-level-user-permissions#administrator) to view their media collections at a glance, upload media for in-world use, delete unneeded files, and tag files for improved organization.

The Media Library is account-bound, meaning that each user will be able to see and manage only media files that they have uploaded. Only [World Owners](https://docs.breakroom.tech/opening-the-doors/creating-and-managing-user-accounts/world-level-user-permissions#owner) and [World Administrators](https://docs.breakroom.tech/opening-the-doors/creating-and-managing-user-accounts/world-level-user-permissions#administrator) can access the Dashboard. When planning your event, it may be wise to create a team continuity plan to ensure that important media files are uploaded on multiple accounts.

## Uploading images and videos

Using the Media Library management tab, you can upload images and videos to Breakroom straight through the Dashboard. These media files will appear in your in-world Image Library, where they can then be deployed when setting up tools like the [Breakroom Image Viewer](https://docs.breakroom.tech/creating-custom-experiences/exploring-the-breakroom-toolkit/breakroom-image-viewer) and [Breakroom Teleport Portals](https://docs.breakroom.tech/creating-custom-experiences/exploring-the-breakroom-toolkit/breakroom-teleport-portal).

To upload an image or video file through the Dashboard, follow these steps.

1. Navigate to your [Dashboard](https://docs.breakroom.tech/building-new-worlds/breakroom-dashboard-tour).
2. Click on the **Media Library tab**, and then click the **Upload Image/Video button**.&#x20;
3. In the panel that appears, click the **Select button**. This will launch a standard file import window on your computer.&#x20;
4. Locate the file you want to use and click on it. Then click the **Open button**. Once your image or video has been uploaded, you will see it appear as a preview thumbnail.
5. Add an image title, description, and tags if you like.
6. Click the **Confirm button** to save your file.

Naming and tagging your files makes it easy to search for them using the **search field** located at the top of the tab. You can also use the **media type drop-down menu** to narrow your search by file type.

## Managing images and videos

### Viewing files

All of your uploaded image and video files appear as thumbnails under the Media Library tab. Clicking on a **thumbnail** will open the file detail window. There you can use the **Zoom slider** to zoom in and out, or move the image around the preview window by clicking and dragging your **cursor**.

### Editing files

Clicking the **Edit button** in the file detail window will open the Edit Image/Video panel. Here you can edit the file type, title, description, and tags. You can also replace the file by clicking on the **thumbnail**. When you're satisfied with your changes, click the **Confirm button**.

Replacing a file with a new upload on the Media Library tab will not automatically replace the original image if it is displayed in-world. You will still need to manually delete or edit all in-world uses of the image.

### Deleting files

To delete a file, first click on its **thumbnail** in the Media Library tab. You can then click the **Delete link** in the file detail panel.

Deleting a file from the Media Library tab will not erase that image from in-world displays. You will still need to manually delete or edit all in-world uses of the image.

### Sharing files

You can share uploaded files with users outside the Breakroom platform by clicking the **Copy URL button** in the file detail panel.&#x20;
