# Networking with other users

## Overview

Breakroom's networking tools are designed to help you make the most of the very real relationships forged in your virtual World. By combining the power of your user profile, the People window, and the Groups window, you can:

* Make it easy for other users to access your professional information
* Build a [contact](https://docs.breakroom.tech/exploring-breakroom/networking-with-other-users/people) list to facilitate in-world communication
* Create [groups](https://docs.breakroom.tech/exploring-breakroom/networking-with-other-users/groups) in order to promote networking, organize events, or [control access](https://docs.breakroom.tech/building-new-worlds/region-settings) to specific areas

On this page, we'll explain how to locate your user profile and edit your personal details. In the sections that follow, we'll explore the [People](https://docs.breakroom.tech/exploring-breakroom/networking-with-other-users/people) and [Groups](https://docs.breakroom.tech/exploring-breakroom/networking-with-other-users/groups) windows in more detail.

{% hint style="info" %}
World Owners and World Administrators can [enable and disable parts of the UI](https://docs.breakroom.tech/creating-custom-experiences/ui-customization-options) via the [Dashboard](https://docs.breakroom.tech/building-new-worlds/breakroom-dashboard-tour). You may not have access to every function described in this section.

In Breakroom, user profiles function much like virtual business cards or employee badges. When you access any user profile, including your own, the first thing you'll see is the **Details tab**. This tab contains helpful information you may want others to know, such as:

* Your job title
* Your location
* Links to your social media pages
* Your activities and interests

You can edit these fields at any time by clicking the **Edit buttons**. An animated headshot of your avatar is also included and will automatically update to reflect your avatar's current [appearance](https://docs.breakroom.tech/getting-started/customizing-your-avatar/editing-avatars-in-the-outfit-window).

In addition to the information listed on the Details tab, when other users view your profile, they can navigate to:

* The **Photos tab**, which showcases any [snapshots](https://docs.breakroom.tech/exploring-breakroom/snapshots) you've chosen to make public
* The **Regions tab**, which displays all of the Regions you own
* The **Wearing tab**, which lists the [avatar components](https://docs.breakroom.tech/getting-started/customizing-your-avatar/editing-avatars-in-the-outfit-window) that you're wearing
* The **Badges tab**, which lists your achievement badges

Other users will also see options to send you a [direct message](https://docs.breakroom.tech/getting-started/communicating-with-other-users#direct-message) or [in-world email](https://docs.breakroom.tech/getting-started/communicating-with-other-users#in-world-email), remove you from their [People list](https://docs.breakroom.tech/exploring-breakroom/networking-with-other-users/people), or send a [teleport](https://docs.breakroom.tech/bookmarks-and-teleport-invites#teleport-invites) invite or request.

These buttons were described in the preceding section." width="563"><figcaption><p>Pictured: The main page of a user profile, as viewed by another user.</p></figcaption></figure></div>

To view another user's profile, click on their avatar and select **View Profile** in the action menu that appears. You can also search for a specific person using the [search field](https://docs.breakroom.tech/getting-started/ui-tour#the-top-toolbar) or click on a user's name in your [People list](https://docs.breakroom.tech/exploring-breakroom/networking-with-other-users/people).
